Rochelle Canteen Wedding Photography

Lucy & Nick’s Rochelle Canteen wedding reception

I loved Lucy & Nick’s Rochelle Canteen wedding reception. Life can be a strange thing – sometimes it goes full circle and you end up exactly where you’re supposed to be. Back when I was at uni, I did a work placement with the now defunct fashion brand Luella; they shared a studio space with Giles Deacon who was making some serious waves at the time. It felt like the place to be – like it would somehow lead me into my dream career in fashion. This studio was on the first floor of the Rochelle School – I remember being there when the now-iconic Rochelle Canteen was getting off the ground and also beginning to make waves. So it seems funny that 17 or so years later, I was back there, doing something that I do truly love, and capturing Lucy & Nick’s wedding. Life has a funny way etc.

Getting ready at 100 Shoreditch

The day started over at One Hundred Shoreditch, the former Ace Hotel, and one of their roof terrace suites. With sweeping views over the Shoreditch rooftops, and an abundance of natural light, I think this makes a great getting ready spot. Lucy’s wrap dress from The Fall Bride, Reformation platforms and Shrimps bag and artfully undone loose waves were the perfect cool-girl bridal look. The bridesmaids wore complimentary Stine Goya dresses.

Ceremony at Asylum in Peckham

Asylum in Peckham needs no introduction – in fact I wrote more about it over here, but it remains a forever favourite of mine. I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of photographing weddings here.

A relaxed reception at the Rochelle Canteen

And then on to the Rochelle Canteen, via a brief detour for some couple photos at Arnold Circus and along Columbia Road – all local haunts of Luci & Nick.

Hidden behind a metal gate and a tallish brick wall – the Canteen is a super intimate , made a bit bigger by a covered outdoor area that sits under a huge grapevine. The pretty little garden was a rare green space in the thrum of Bethnal Green and the perfect spot for drinks before sitting down for sharing plates and wine.

The perfect spot for an intimate, East London foodie wedding.

If you’re looking for wedding photography for an intimate Rochelle Canteen reception, or indeed any other East London restaurant, then  in touch. I offer coverage  shorter days, starting at just 2 hours. Some of the images below were taken on 35mm film, which i now include in my all-day coverage options as standard.
