Ro & Adam – a backgarden humanist wedding

A VEGAN, HUMANIST, BACKYARD SHINDIG

Where to start with Ro & Adam – it was truly a pleasure to be part of their wedding day. I’m going to try and write this all down coherently, but I’m expecting this write up to come out like a bit of a giant brain fart…

Anyhow, on a very hot day over the August bank holiday weekend I travelled down to Hampshire, to shoot Ro & Adam’s wedding at her parent’s house. With vegan food from Cashew and Beelzabab, their gorgeous doggies Albie and Alma in attendance, a half-humanist half-pagan ceremony led in part by Ro’s Godmother, and involving the pair of them walking a 7 layer labyrinth and laying gifts to the earth as well as an Elvis themed tipi bar, a touching tribute to Adam’s Mum; this was a hell of a party.

Ro’s beautiful dress was handmade by Kate Beaumont, who sourced and tracked down a vegan alternative to silk.

As the sun set on the day, and the sky began to turn a vivid shade of pink and the fires were lit, the DJ began to play vintage vinyl –  this really was a hell of a wedding.

Apologies in advance – it’s a long one!

As an aside, and not to make this blog post about me, but I’ve shot a few vegan weddings this year and it’s definitely inspired me. I’ve been a vegetarian for 20 odd years, and in recent years had considered ditching the dairy too and after spending lots of the year eating plant based 90% of the time, I’ve taken the plunge and decided to adopt it full time, so if you’re looking for a vegan wedding photographer, then do get in touch.
