“You and Me, We’re In a Club Now”
So much to say about Keeley and Russell’s amazing North Norfolk wedding at Chaucer Barn in Gresham.
Firstly, they live just around the corner from me, in the same Peckham/Dulwich border zone, and got in touch because I was from Norfolk originally, and it just so happened that their venue was only a 8 minute drive down country lanes from my mother in law’s house. Which might just have been the shortest ever journey to a wedding. Ever. This was my third ever Norfolk wedding, and I can’t wait to do more – that county (understably) has a very special place in my heart!
Secondly their day was downright fab – with a nod towards the Pixar film Up – Grape Soda pins, a miniature floating house and tables with Arnie on… Crazy speeches, mad dancing, Russell’s rather dapper look with more accessories than Keeley, craft beer, delicious food, a strong german contingent, me almost weeping as Keeley walked down the aisle, hearing the story of how they met through work, Russell doing The Bat dance as everyone cheered, crisp winter air, and the most beautiful sunset (after a long time living in London, it’s true what they say about the skies in Norfolk), this really was the best way to spend that time between Christmas and New Year.
I also loved the venue, so many barn venues are total wedding factories, but I loved that this was so intimate – basically a big and slightly bohemian holiday home that you could fill with your family and friends and host a big get together. The ceremony took place in the kitchen, and the living room was cleared out to make way for dinner.
