Islington Town Hall Microwedding
Jane and Ben married in Islington in October 2020 – London had entered tier 2, but receptions of up to 15 were permitted.
Islington Town Hall is a perennial favourite, and I was glad to see that it hasn’t lost any of it’s charm despite the amount of yellow sticky tape that has appeared on the floors and marks the new normal. Ceremonies are still reassuringly relaxed and You can still throw confetti on the steps. Speaking of which, Jane and Ben’s friends and family bought along two confetti canons which were so loud, I swear half of Upper St ran for cover. Anyway, I digress….
They hired the beautiful, blue upstairs room at the Canonbury Tavern and set a long table, strewn with beautiful white flowers. A quick stroll from the Town Hall to the pub, through the beautiful Porticoed streets of Canonbury and everyone grabbed a glass and caught up. We then wondered round the corner for some quick, fuss free photos of the two of them, and after four wonderful hours together, I hopped in my car and headed home.
There has been something especially wonderful about all of these smaller weddings – it’s a true privilege to be involved and to be the eyes of the rest of the world on such an intimate day. Whatever the rest of 2021 holds, I’ll be glad if a part of it is microweddings.
