Just a stone’s throw outside the pretty Georgian town of Holt, in North Norfolk is quirky, but beautiful Voewood. Built in 1903, each room in this Arts & Craft’s House has a distinctive style, with handpainted walls and retro furniture; which is made all the cooler by the current owner’s eclectic art collection, including works by Peter Blake.

The distinctive sunken gardens are the result of flint being dug out to build the house, but gives it a wonderfully safe enclosed feeling. That and the anything-goes dry hire vibe mean that it’s an amazing place to host a weekend long wedding celebration. You can host your wedding ceremony on the terrace, or out on the lawns, or indeed in the lovely main hall and put a marquee in the garden too, should you need more space. It would be perfect for a humanist wedding ceremony, but the registration borough who preside over the area is Norfolk

It also has 17 uniquely themed guest rooms, so you can have a big sleepover with your favourites and celebrate your wedding all weekend. There’s even a nightclub space in the basement, so the party can really get going.

I’ve shot at Voewood a few times, and everytime I find something new and wonderful, from the beautiful autumn sunsets on the terrace through to the myriad of ways that people are able to utilise all the rooms to move the party around.
