5 Cool wedding venues in Norfolk

5 Cool wedding venues in Norfolk

My favourite Norfolk wedding venues

I wanted to pull together my top 5 cool wedding venues in Norfolk – I’ve tried to include a variety of styles, but they are all awesome, epic and flexible spaces. Some of them I’ve shot at; other are on my bucket list and hopefully I’ll get to make some magic there some day soon!

So whether you live in Norfolk, have roots here, or simply want to get married in rural idyll that’s only 2 hours from London; here’s some of my finest choices for Norfolk wedding venues.

  1. Voewood

The original, electric arts and crafts wedding venue stuffed with art from the likes of Peter Blake – this house near the Georgian town of Holt can be hired for the whole weekend for decadent house party vibes. I’ve seen the space used so many different ways – from ceremonies on the terrace or under the arches of the garden, through to stretch tents in the grounds; and it’s dry hire style mean you get all of the looks but also the flexibility to do things the way you want.

I’ve seen dinner be fish and chips served from a van, and full sit down dinners and the main dining room looks cool styled all kinds of ways for your wedding reception. And always with Bowie looking down on you.

2. Godwick Barn

Yes, a barn wedding venue, but a cool one and I’ll tell you why. Each booking here gets a 1 hr consultation with the brilliantly stylish Penny from The Little Lending Company so you can discuss how to make the space your own – they’ve also thoughtfully improved and renovated under her guidance: the ceiling features festoon lights, the hard wearing but ugly carpet has been replaced with a much cooler concrete floor. They have space for lots of guests and beautiful outdoor spaces overlooking the fields; as well as the obligatory tractor ride to see the ruins of the church.

3. The Fire Pit

A glamping site with a bit dose of urban cool – with a converted bus bar and a big warehouse to dine in as well as the Wren’s Nest for your wedding night. This is a fab place for an all-out party style festival wedding, with a little dose of urban cool in the countryside. I’ve not had the opportunity to shoot there yet and I’m dying to! Funnily enough my neighbour has just started running their events too.

4. Happy Valley.

Another glamping wedding venue (well, it makes sense that venues in Norfolk should celebrate the countryside as much as London venues celebrate the city) Happy Valley boasts dark skies and luxury glamping in rustic lodges rather than nights under canvas, though they have bell tents too if that takes your fancy. They also have a beautiful outdoor ceremony space in the woods, perfect if you want a celebrant led wedding. It’s also a stones throw from such local gems as the art filled Houghton Hall, and even the Sandringham Estate for a cobweb-busting post wedding stomp.

I can’t wait to shoot my first weddings at Happy Valley in 2023.

5. The Dial House

A cool, boutique hotel with its own high end vintage store selling designer finds. Food is provided by the team behind the restaurant Farmyard in Norwich. It’s picturesque village location (pronounced Reef-ham, for anyone unfamiliar with the many strange pronunciations of Norfolk place names) make it a great spot if you don’t want to be completely in the middle of nowhere. I can’t wait to shoot a wedding here in April of this year!
