Luxury wedding venues in Norfolk & Suffolk

VENUE GUIDE

Looking for the perfect wedding venue in Norfolk or Suffolk? I got you.

My favourite luxury wedding venues in Norfolk & Suffolk

Whilst Norfolk and Suffolk perhaps have more of a reputation for barn wedding venues or outdoorsy celebrations, and whilst we don’t quite have anything on the scale and level of fame as the mighty Euridge Manor, there are all kinds of beautiful, luxurious wedding venues across the two counties. The trick is that some of them are a little more hidden – some of them are fabulous stately homes that only accommodate a handful of weddings each year, some of them are better suited to more intimate celebrations, and others, yet, are whole country estates just asking to be taken over for a long weekend.

So here’s a list of some long time favourites – some I’ve photographed weddings at, others I’ve just had my beady eye on for the longest time. But if you’re looking for a luxury wedding venue in either Norfolk or Suffolk; read on as you might just discover the perfect place for your own wedding.

Images to the left – my own. Images for Voewood, Glemham and Butley weddings by me. All others supplied by venue.

The Best Wedding Luxury Venues in Norfolk

Close enough to London for a weekend, with miles of coastline and vast beautiful skies, Norfolk is an incredible place. it’s full of creativity and charm – perhaps a result of being the last stop before the sea. here are the best luxury wedding venues in Norfolk.

1

Sennowe Park – Guist, Norfolk

Guist
Norfolk
NR20 5PB

  • Good for stylish weddings
  • Can cater for large parties with some accommodation on site
  • Bookings handled by Softley Events
  • Location used as a frequent backdrop for fashion campaigns

want a slice of fashion history in rural norfolk?

Sennowe Park, in the North Norfolk village of Guist has long been used as a location for some of the best fashion photography. Time Walker (who’s image I’ve used above) has used it in some of his work, and it’s like a beautiful little dream world. Think Saltburn without the murder etc.

As they only take on a handful of weddings in a given year, you and your wedding guests can take over the whole house, playing stately home for the weekend. They can work with their events partners to bring a full weekend schedule to life.

Smaller weddings can be held in the house itself, but for larger gatherings; the lawn, with its view of the lake and the house, is used to site a marquee. For photos of the two of you – just look at some of the locations you have to play with – I am particularly struck by the beautiful orangery

The venue has seven luxurious double/twin bedrooms, so that your favourite people can stay on site all weekend.

2

VOEWOOD – Holt

Cromer Road
High Kelling
Norfolk
NR25 6QS

  • Good for cool weddings
  • Take over the house for the whole weekend
  • Eccentric arts and crafts decor and art collection

AN ICONIC norfolk VENUE THAT’s cool too

If you’re looking for something a wee bit edgier than your standard stately home, then VOEWOOD, near the chichi town of Holt is a winner. A little bit more rock n roll than some of the other venues on the list, it’s a little scruffier round the edges but all the better for it. A place to truly let your hair down and party for the weekend,

The venue boasts 17 unique bedrooms, for that all-weekend country house vibe and even has it’s own bar and nightclub hidden away in the cellar of the house, so you can keep the party going into the early hours,

I’ve seen the space used it all kinds of ways – ceremonies indoors or outdoors, dining in the hall or in a marquee; fancy sit down dinners and food trucks. It’s dry hire, so you’re not tied in to working with any particular vendors and you can run the day as you choose.

Voewood is a particular favourite of mine and I think I’ve photographed weddings there in every season, so if you want to see some more from Voewood weddings, just get in touch.

3

Holkham Hall

Holkham Hall,
Wells-next-the-Sea,
Norfolk,
NR23 1AB

  • Various different spaces to accommodate different wedding sizes and types
  • Their own on-site hotel plus holiday lodges
  • The Estate only hosts one wedding per day
  • License to take photos on Holkham beach

PALLADIAN GRANDEUR AND AN ICONIC BEACH

Right in the heart of the North Norfolk coast lies the Holkham Estate; probably most famous for it’s huge expanse of beach it is also home to Holkham Hall, a majestic Palladian house with some epic interiors and yet more sweeping landscapes in the grounds of the hall itself.

Boasting a number of spaces for all kinds of weddings, from the grand Marble Hall through to spaces for outside ceremonies and marquee dining by the lake in a speery tent, the team at the Estate can help you plan the wedding you want.

Unusually for such a grand venue, they can also host more intimate wedding – their website gives lots more detail and they can also host much more casual events at their on-site gastropub, The Victoria.

if you choose to get married at Holkham you are able to have some of your photographs on the beach, which is a privilege they reserve solely for couples getting married there; though if this is something you are considering it might be worth having a think about the logistics over it as it’s a biiiiig beach, and can sometimes take nearly an hour to reach the water from the car park, so if you can get permission, it would make an excellent spot for a day after sunset photo session.

Wolterton Park

150 Piccadilly
St. James’s
London W1J 9BR

  • Luxury private Estate feel
  • Hosts a Limited number of weddings per year
  • Exclusive use for the weekend with accommodation for 64

GORGEOUS STATELY HOME IN NORTH NORFOLK

Oh look, another Palladian manor in North Norfolk. But hear me out, Holkham is the famous one but Wolterton gives you exclusive use, country house for the weekend vibes. The interiors are at once grand but also somehow cosy, making an epic impression in your photos, but letting you live your stately home fantasy all at once.

Like many similar venues, they can host a number of your guests for extended weekend party vibes, including a rather gorgeous State bedroom.

Bigger weddings can be accommodated in a marquee on the lawn, but weddings of up to 70 can be seated at one of the decadent tables you see below, in The Saloon.

At this stage in the game, I’ve run out of hyperlatives to say about beautiful country Estates in Norfolk, but it is gorgeous and you should have your wedding there.

The Best Wedding Luxury Venues in Suffolk

Over the border, but closer to London, Suffolk has a wealth of luxurious places to celebrate your nuptials ranging from beautiful stately homes, vast country estates to intimate but upmarket wedding venues that feel like a day dream. Here are the best luxury wedding venues in Suffolk.

1

Butley Priory

The Clumps
Woodbridge
Suffolk,
IP12 3NR

  • Light and airy interiors
  • Near the Suffolk coast
  • Ideal for slightly more intimate luxury weddings
  • Though you can site a marquee for bigger celebrations

beautiful former priory right by the suffolk coast

I adore Butley Priory, in fact we had briefly considered it for our own wedding before deciding on a London ceremony, It is a beautifully preserved former Priory tuned private home, set in acres of beautiful grounds, a stones throw from Suffolk towns like Orford (home to the Pump Street Bakery)

it’s perfect for slightly more intimate weddings, with up to 100 guests for a ceremony and 80 seated for dinner (though I think slightly fewer makes more use of the beautiful space) though you can also set up a marquee on site for bigger celebrations,

The building’s light, white washed interiors and high vaulted ceilings are beautifully neutral and lend themselves to any kind of styling. I’ve also shot there in winter and summer, and it’s been gorgeous each time.

One of my absolute favourite things about weddings at Butley Priory is how much it feels like a beautiful home from home – in fact you can stay there for the whole weekend if you like and it becomes like having the most incredible house party

2

Glemham Hall

Little Glemham
Woodbridge
IP13 0BT

  • Beautiful country house
  • Gorgeous panelled ballroom for ceremonies
  • Marquee on site for receptions

grand country house aesthetic

A Classic country house near the town of Woodbridge, Glemham Hall is just really, really pretty. From its classic ivy covered exterior, to the grand staircase and the beautiful gardens at the rear of the hall – if you’re looking for something gorgeous and exclusive (it only hosts a handful of weddings every year) then this could be the wedding venue you’re looking for.

Peak season wedding hire includes accommodation for up to 18 guests, so you can have your wedding party stay on site with you.

The venue has a permanent marquee on site for receptions and parties, so you can celebrate without worrying about all those antiques, and it also means one less supplier to source!

Just like Sennowe Park, Glemham has been the location for numerous fashion editorials (including Tim Walker again!) so you can genuinely feel like you’re on the pages of Vogue when you get married here!

Wilderness Reserve

Yoxford Road
Sibton
Suffolk
IP17 2LZ

  • The OG luxe venue in East Anglia
  • Two unique and stylish venues
  • loads of accommodation for weekend long celebrations
  • In house team can co-ordinate a programme of events

the most stylish venue in the east

There’s a lot to be said about Wilderness – this is a juggernaut on the East Anglian scene and home to some of the most stylish, luxurious weddings I’ve seen around here. Wilderness is actually two seperate venues – both the Chapel Barn Estate and the Sibton Estate. And between them they also have some truly beautiful holiday homes that you can go and stay in when they’re not hosting weddings or events.

Chapel Barn is newly renovated barn venue that sits by a stream with beautiful accommodation – all decorated in an eclectic Kit Kemp style. It’s got a spa and a swimming pool and is yours for the weekend, should you chose it as your wedding venue,.

Sibton is a grand, Palladian style country house (with some of the most iconic wallpaper I’ve ever seen) and can host weddings both inside the house or in a marquee. Again, it has it’s own lake and views over the rugged Suffolk countryside.

iIn any regard, hosting a wedding at Wilderness will totally blow all of your guests away.

4

Hengrave Hall

Hengrave Hall
Bury St Edmunds
Suffolk
IP28 6LB

  • Chic italiannate country house
  • On site church if you want a religious ceremony
  • Able to host more intimate weddings if needed

italiannate wedding venue in the heart of the brecks

A Grade 1 Listed Tudor manor in the heart of Suffolk, this is also another fab, luxurious choice. An exclusive hire venue with beautiful grounds, you have the option of holding a civil or humanist ceremony inside the house or having a ceremony in their on-site church, which is included in their hire.

They have a sophisticated dining room, or if the weather is on side – you can dine destination wedding style in their courtyard.

They work exclusively with their in-house caterers, Milsom and have on-site accommodation too.

Basically, it’s another very fine choice if you’re looking for a luxurious country house venue in Suffolk.

I’ve shot over 400 weddings and I’ll never tire of it.

A photographer who’s a little bit alternative, a little bit editorial and a little bit documentary; in London and Norfolk, specialising in capturing real people in real love.

With both a degree and previous career in fashion, I will always have a soft spot for editorial photography, and still routinely get swept away by what comes out of the lens of my favourite fashion photographers.

However, there’s a focus on the people and an undeniable connection in documentary wedding photography that doesn’t just sweep me off my feet, it fills up my whole chest, and that’s what I love to focus on in my work. It may sound like a cliché, but it’s true: life isn’t only in the big moments, but also the in-betweens. And on your wedding day, it’s my job to capture a perfect (whatever that means!) blend of the both, so that you can relive them forever.
