It’s funny when one of your most visited venues is actually 763 miles away from home in the Dordogne, and yet this was my third time at the gorgeous Chateau Rigaud, set deep in Bordeaux wine country and run by the most fabulous team.

Additionally, there’s no one I’d rather have paid £100 to have a stranger put a swab up my nose for than Anna-Lisa and James – they are their families were so welcoming – it was wonderful to become part of their worlds for this little slice of time; and of course to meet Hilda and Sven, doggy bridesmaid and best dog respectively.

I could talk for ages about how much I love this venue – the beautiful, cool dark interiors that make for such wonderful photos, the sunny terraces, the care and attention they put into all of the little details; the incredible cooking, but hopefully that leaps off the page from these photos.

And after these long two years of the pandemic, how good it felt too to be immersed in another culture, to drink a glass of French wine and feel the October sun on your skin. It felt good to be back.
