Vidushi & Saksham – Lilibrooke Manor
Lilibrooke Manor wedding
Documentary Indian wedding photography
Over a weekend back in July 2021, just as things were beginning to get fun again, Vidushi and Saksham held their colourful, joyful wedding over two days. A magical weekend, full of music, dancing and performance from all of their talented friends – Vidushi used to perform with the musicians – other friends are professional dancers, which made the day seem so personal.
The Mehendi
On top of that we had, at various points, beautiful draped installations by Boomting Bunting, a ceremony led by their friend, a poet; their gorgeous husky Shadow, who I just couldn’t convince to be my bestie; a surprise variety performance from the bridal party, all about how V&S met; a mariachi band; neon and dried flowers, and the overwhelming joy of being back with family and friends.
We were treated to the most glorious sunset light on both days, and it was a total joy working with Toby and team from Handcraft Pictures on the day.
Lilibrooke Manor
Although the first day, the Mehendi party, was held at Vidushi’s parents home in Buckinghamshire, the second day was at the beautiful Lilibrooke Manor near Maidenhead. On this day we started with the groom’s Baraat ceremony – with Saksham appearing in a Mustang (traditionally it’s a horse, so this tied in nicely!) and his friends and family dancing his down Lilibrooke’s iconic long drive, before he meets the bridesmaids who must try to block his entrance until he hands over some symbolic cash.
As a photographer, I tried to approach this day with the same spirit that I do any – keeping any staged photos to a minimum so that I could document the spirit of the day naturally; and still have some time to create some epic portraits
