a Wiveton Hall wedding – Kitty & Jack
A Wiveton Hall wedding
Kitty & Jack
Outdoor wedding venue in North Norfolk
Kitty & Jack’s wedding at the beautiful Wiveton hall in North Norfolk was a total joy. From the new-to-me venue that overlooks the marshes between the villages of Wiveton and Cley and with views to the sea beyond, to the people that made this day so awesome (including the biggest, and also perhaps tallest groom’s party I’ve ever worked with). Wiveton Hall has a kind of beautifully faded patina, it’s not too fancy or too polished and the grounds are beyond stunning.
Kitty started the day getting ready in one of the bedrooms in the West Wing of the Hall before their beautiful ceremony on the lawn, surrounded by a wildflower meadow of flowers. The ceremony was performed by their friend and bridesmaid, and friends and family sang and performed throughout – Jack’s brother and Kitty’s brother performing on guitar and trumpet respectively, before a supergroup of friends and family sang a song about their relationship. We also learned that they first met at a party when Jack heard that a girl who loved Tom Waits as much as him would be there, the rest is history. Ceremonies led by friends or family are like catnip to me. As a desperate romantic, I love hearing all about how you fell in love and hearing the story of your relationship.
A Marquee wedding reception
After the ceremony, and drinks in the leafy green courtyard of Wiveton Hall, they dined at long tables in an open sperry-tent style marquee overlooking the marshes and the fields of Ox-Eye daisies that were so abundant in the summer of 2024. And after they opened the dancing with a first dance to Leonard Cohen’s Dance Me to the End of Love.
One of the best things about Wiveton hall as a wedding venue is the sheer versatility of the space, by changing the marquee or the wedding styling, you can create a whole different atmosphere, but still with the beautiful Norfolk coastline as your backdrop.
I can’t wait to photograph a second Wiveton Hall wedding in Summer 2025.
Wedding Films on Super 8
I also got the opportunity to play with creating a Super 8 movie for Kitty and Jack. I’ve been experimenting with this medium, adding it into highlights and standalone films, but I am also considering adding a Super 8 only option as an add-on extra for those booking wedding photography.
