Elmley Nature Reserve Wedding

Elmley Nature wedding photography

The wonderful Elmley Nature Reserve, on the Island of Sheerness in Kent is a little slice of heaven – home to all kinds of birds, the most beautiful sunsets; and just enough of a glimpse of the world beyond to remind you that it exists. I had been desperate to photograph a wedding here since it first came onto my radar, and so when Abigail & Gav got in touch, excited is an understatement.

As their first, and then their second, wedding date came and went, I did wonder if I’d ever make it to this little corner of Kent but I did and it was so worth it.

The Farmhouse at Elmley Nature

The day started with Abigail getting ready in the beautiful farmhouse at Elmley – with epic views over the grassland and skies from the main bedroom. They held a touching ceremony in the courtyard, performed by a relative and with a tree planting – dedicated to both of their Fathers who had passed away during the pandemic.

Then to Elmley’s gloriously cavernous barn – its exquisite light and view onto the marshes makes this feel extra special, and as the sun began to set, and the starling murmurations began in earnest, as their guests watched on.

Sunset at Elmley Nature Reserve

Elmley is also home to one of the best sunset’s I have ever seen, and so golden hour photos out in the fields, or by the track that leads you through the nature reserve, are a must. It’s rare that at a wedding venue I can say I ever felt truly peaceful, but here I did.

If you’re getting married at Elmley Nature reserve and looking for a wedding photographer with a contemporary, stylish documentary approach (and likes to party too) then get in touch and I’ll send you a lovely brochure with everything you need to know.
