Trinity Buoy Wharf wedding Photography

Looking for a photographer for your wedding at Trinity Buoy Wharf?

Trinity Buoy Wharf is one of my all-time favourite London wedding venues. Despite having a distinctly urban feel, the space works a little bit like a country venue – you have the beautiful, light-filled Chainstore, and the area outside with access to the river to stretch out if the weather lends itself which is great for natural, candid photography of all of your guests.

Throw in London’s only lighthouse – a must for some wedding photos of the two of you, artist’s studios, much beautiful urban architecture and all kinds of interesting backdrops for photos; a fine view of Canary Wharf and the O2 (I’m old enough that I still want to call it the Millenium Dome) and the most wonderful spot for sunset light and I’m sold.

It’s a dry hire space, which does mean a little more work (though there are a plethora of planners and co-ordinators who can help with just that) though it also gives you the complete flexibility to make it your own. I’ve seen the space zoned and used for different things throughout the day, flowing from ceremony, to drinks, to dinner and finally to dancing, with ease.

Next to the chain store, on the first floor of the iconic Lighthouse is Long Player – a sound installation that has being playing continuously since 1999 situated in a quiet attic, it’s a little piece of magic.

The site itself is also home to the ENO, the English National Opera, as well as lots of other creative ventures, and can be hired for corporate events and parties too (just in case you’ve landed on this page but don’t have a wedding to celebrate!). Whatever you have up your sleeve, hopefully this collection of images can give you some inspiration for your wedding at Trinity Buoy Wharf.

Wedding videography at Trinity Buoy Wharf

Alice and Andy held their February wedding at Trinity Buoy Wharf, after a beautiful ceremony in the North Atrium at Hackney Town Hall, they boarded a red bus down to TBW to continue the celebrations.

I also make wedding films! If you’re looking for something fun, natural and creative, then you can find out more here: London wedding videographer

The Chainstore at Trinity Buoy Wharf

Some useful information for weddings at The Chainstore

  • ££ POA
  • 70-600 capacity, depending on activity.
  • The venue is ‘dry hire’, meaning you get the room empty, and there is no in-house catering and you must arrange everything including the takedown, or hire a suitable wedding co-ordinator.
  • Full in-house planning service (if required, more info below)
  • Licensed for weddings (Tower Hamlets registrars) but also suitable for celebrant led ceremonies
  • Licensed til 1am

I’ve seen the space used a number of different ways.

A

Using drapes to divide the space into three – one space for a ceremony and the others ready for drinks and dining. Drapes can be removed post ceremony to reveal the tables all set, and create an area for your cocktails and canapes.

B.

A summer Wedding ceremony in the Chainstore, followed by all guests heading for a cruise on a charter boat on the Thames. Once they return the room has been turned around ready for dinner.

C.

Trinity Buoy Wharf used only as a reception venue, with the wedding ceremony held elsewhere and a open plan use of the room, with ‘zones’ with different types of furniture as people move through the event – i.e. tables for dining, but with a lounge area created near the bar with sofas etc, and a separate dancefloor.

Flexible dry-hire wedding venue in East London

Basically, your only limit at Trinity Buoy Wharf is your imagination (and probably, being totally realistic – your budget) – you can go as wild with decor as you like, or keep it simple and really lean into the industrial vibes. You can have a legally binding ceremony led by Tower Hamlet’s registrars, have a religious blessing, a humanist wedding ceremony or even have a friend perform a symbolic ceremony for you.

In my decade of photographing weddings, I’ve been lucky enough to photograph weddings at Trinity Buoy Wharf quite a few times – here’s a few blogged weddings below, and a general gallery that shows off the venue.
