A wedding at Marko & Marko
Alice & Varun held their November wedding at the rather awesome MK II studios in Clapton. Now, if you’ve been following me or this blog for any length of time, you’ll know how much I love a Warehouse wedding venue, and this place has just shot to the top of the list – usually operating as a photo studio, it’s a great blank canvas for one hell of an East London party. And that’s exactly what they did for their MKii Clapton wedding – fusing London style with an Indian influence – a nod to Varun’s heritage – the day was a riot of colour and fun.
Alice wore a dress by Halston, the iconic 70s brand, and th wo of them exchanged vows, and floral garlands, in a gorgeous ceremony proceeded by one of their best friends. As soon as they were pronounced married, confetti canons popped, and filled the air with colour. With glorious flowers by the inimitable I Think That You Are Magic, bright pink and orange drapes, twinkling lights and the natural texture of the wooden tables set against the white brick walls.
After a gorgeous dinner by Pasetti and Boote (seriously, still dreaming about their scamorza lasagne!) Espresso martinis were proferred before the dance floor opened and the evening went off! A mix of modern tunes and Bollywood classics had everyone on the dancefloor, in the studio’s green room, which they’d totally transformed with the help of some gold lamé.
This was the perfect way to celebrate a wedding in November – it didn’t feel festive but it did feel glamorous, and wintery and cosy and very cool.

Formerly known as The Old Dairy (because, surprise surprise, that’s what it used to be) but now known as MKII, they’ve been hosting weddings and events for years. The venue actually is licensed for civil ceremonies too – so it could be the ideal all-in-one location for your wedding. Ceremonies would be conducted by Hackney Council.
