Eammon & John – a garden wedding
Painshill Park Wedding
Wedding in the Walled Garden at Painshill Park
Eammon and Joh got in touch at fairly late notice about their Painshill Park wedding – I Zoomed with them both from a very humid casita in in the Yucatan and was pretty surprised when my ‘tropics hairstyle’ (i.e. scraped back in a bun!) didn’t put them off having me capture their wedding.
On the one hand, The Conservatory at Painshill Park is quite a traditional marquee type wedding venue – huge and loads of space for big weddings and with beautiful gardens for ‘traditional’ photos – however, under the guise of Eammon & John’s wedding, it became something altogether more wonderful. On a hot, sunny day in May they held a kind of street food-tastic garden party, with their friends and family from across the world lounging on the grass, throwing up a volleyball net and playing badminton, grazing on freshly kneaded pizza and steak and exploring the beautiful grounds of Painshill. The pair of them met through playing rugby with the Kings Cross Steelers, and Eammon since went on to make a documentary about them, as London’s first LGBT rugby club, and the presence of their friends and team mates was a major part of the day.
About Painshill
The conservatory at Painshill has now closed, and instead the venue offers a flexible approach to using their beautiful grounds and the ability to site a marquee in various lovely corners (including in the Walled Garden, where this wedding took place!) including ceremonies in their iconic gothic Temple, which we were able to visit for some couple photos.
