The Hackney Wedding

First off, can I sing the praises of the The Hackney (which is still part of The Hackney Coffee Co, they’ve just rebranded the weddings and events part of the business)- what an absolute little gem of an East London venue, and just perfect for a slightly smaller wedding. On the Hackney Road, a stones throw from my old flat, it’s stylishly industrial but light and airy and full of plants. It lends itself to being either styled to the max, or having almost nothing and letting the greenery speak for itself. The cocktails smelt amazing (alas, I was working so I didn’t try one!), the food was delicious and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. Honestly, it’s now one of my London faves!

But onto the lovely Victoria and Alex, who got married in October 2021. They wed at Islington Town Hall, another classic favourite; as the low October light streamed through the windows, before hopping on over to Hackney, via a detour to the Hackney gas works and canal for some photos. The area around The Oval providing all kinds of my favourite grit and grime.

After dinner, a roaming acoustic band got everyone up and dancing, singing and generally going wild. This gorgeous wedding, and this welcoming and fun crowd, are what makes my job so special.
