A South East London Pub Wedding – Mallory & Luca

IVY HOUSE NUNHEAD WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Back in 2012 the Ivy House in Nunhead, the other side of Peckham Rye Park from my old flat, was closed down (by everyone’s favourite destroyer of local pubs – Enterprise Inns). Plans were drawn up to turn it, as so much of London’s iconic spots, into flats. In 2013 it was bought by the local community, the backroom preserved for gigs and parties, a great roster of local craft brews on tap and unfussy Sunday roasts. The Ivy House was here, and part of the landscape of Nunhead and SE15 long before Peckham became cool.

It was against this landscape that Mallory & Luca chose to have a super-local wedding – heading first to Southwark register office up the road in Camberwell, before meeting those that couldn’t join them for their intimate family-only ceremony in Peckham Rye park for bubbles and beers before walking a little further up to the Ivy House. So here was a truly personal wedding day, with an amazing couple, an impromptu first look on a street corner, Ron the dog, Luca’s band the Cellophane Flowers reforming for the night, and an epic gold curtain. One of my absolute favourites from 2018!

Ellie Gillard is a modern, creative wedding photographer who used to be based in South East London and missed it very much. She would be very happy to cover weddings in East Dulwich, Peckham, Nunhead, Camberwell, Forest Hill and anywhere in between. Probably even in Catford.
