Last minute wedding photographer in London

If you’re looking for a last minute-ish wedding photographer in London, maybe for a Town Hall wedding, a microwedding or indeed any kind of wedding, then you might be pleased to hear I still have some availability in 2023.

Some of my favourite weddings throughout the years have been booked at short notice, and I promise not to scoff at you or patronise you by saying that my most popular dates always book up 18 months in advance – it’s true that some dates book early, and you could have booked them 10 times over, but then there are others where that doesn’t happen.

Planning a wedding can be all-consuming enough (i’m avoiding using ‘stressful’ because I think that if it’s starting to not be enjoyable, then you need to reassess your priorities and approach to the day) , but when you’re doing it on short notice, finding a photographer can feel like an impossible task. However, with a little bit of research and some helpful tips, you can find a short notice wedding photographer who will capture your special day beautifully.

Start by researching photographers.

When looking for a short notice wedding photographer, it’s important to start by researching local photographers who cover your your area. Check out their websites and social media pages to get a sense of their style and portfolio – if you’re having a London Town Hall wedding for instance; does their work reflect that or is it all pretty country locations? Once you have a list of potential photographers, reach out to them to see if they are available on your wedding date and to discuss pricing and packages. Post Covid, many wedding photographers have continued to offer shorter coverage too; so if you’re looking for just a few hours many will still work with you to make sure you get some beautiful wedding photos.

Look for photographers with availability on your wedding date.

When planning a last-minute wedding, finding a photographer who is available on your wedding date is crucial. Start by reaching out to photographers in your area and asking about their availability. Most will ask you for both the date and location (venues) for your wedding so they can check against their calendar and quote as necessary. If they’re not available, most will also give you access to their network of other photographers and can send you some recommendations for people who will be able to help you out.

Check their portfolio and reviews.

When searching for a short notice wedding photographer, it’s important to take the time to review their portfolio and read their reviews.

Look for a photographer who has experience shooting the kind of wedding you’re planning; and whose style matches your vision for your wedding photos. A photographer with positive reviews, both on Google and maybe via awards like The Wedding Industry Awards; and a strong portfolio is more likely to deliver the beautiful photos you’re looking for.

Schedule a consultation to discuss your vision and expectations.

Once you’ve narrowed down your list of potential short notice wedding photographers, it’s important to schedule a consultation with each one. During the consultation, you can discuss your vision for your wedding photos and your expectations for the photographer. This is also a great opportunity to get to know the photographer and make sure you feel comfortable working with them. After this, depending on how closely the wedding is coming up, they’ll probably discuss the logistics of the day with you – timings, locations, what you want from your photos so that they can figure out a plan of action and how to be awesome on your day.

Make sure you have a clear contract and pricing agreement.

Even the smallest of weddings needs the legal paperwork. When working with a short notice wedding photographer, it’s important to have a clear contract and pricing agreement in place – in my case the contract i use for shorter coverage weddings is as comprehensive as the one for full day coverage, and I will provide you with a bespoke quote and invoice too.

Make sure you understand what is included in the package and any additional fees that may apply. Ask about the photographer’s cancellation policy and what happens if they are unable to make it to your wedding. Having a clear agreement in place will help avoid any misunderstandings or surprises on your wedding day.

Last minute wedding dates

Here’s my remaining free Saturday dates in 2023, from now through to December, if you’re looking for a creative, alternative wedding photographer at short notice. The only caveat is that this might change at short notice, between January and March is often the peak time for people looking to book a wedding photographer and so it can be impossible to keep up with updating dates, though I will try my best.

I’ve been photographing weddings for over a decade and am a recommended supplier by Rock My Wedding and Junebug.

Secondly, if you are interested in working with me, please know that your date is not secure until you have both signed the contract and paid your deposit.

In case you landed here from a search engine, here’s how to find out more about me and my wedding work.
