Styled Shoots – I’ve always had a bit of a love/hate relationship with them. Love because who doesn’t enjoy getting creative without the pressures of a wedding day and coming up with the kind of editorially driven content that pushes you to work harder on real weddings, but hate because I’m busy (and probably a bit lazy) and what with shooting lots and lots of weddings, families, commercial work, launching an e-course and the business of birthing an actual human child in the past few years; doing this kind of thing has had to take a back seat to keeping the wheels turning.

Thankfully there have been a slew of photographers for whom organising such things is a pleasure creating workshops for the rest of us to enjoy. I had the pleasure of attending one of Rebecca Carpenter’s styled shoot workshops at the end of September and here are the results – after a tough 2020, it was a bit of a tonic for the soul, and I hope the results are a little bit of a treat for yours too.

Mixing subtle western elements with edgy, dark table scapes that appeal to my inner 90s goth, two beautiful real life couples, smoke bombs and even Minty the horse. Buckle in Cowboy – it’s a long one.
